Reviews for Zhu Zhu Pets Salon (Toy) My nine-year-old loves this. She blow dries all the hamsters and brushes up those mohawks on the rock stars. It could use a few improvements, though. It only has one ramp so we get backups with one hamster leaving and one coming in. Also, the shelf with the accessories just makes the whole thing too crowded. With no shelf and a little rearranging I think it could accommodate two ramps. You'd still get backups, but you could steer the hamsters toward another ramp.
Reviews for Zhu Zhu Pets Salon (Toy) Just bought this for my daughter, and she was excited when we got home to add it to her collection. It is very cute, but there are a few problems. First, I think it should have come with more supports. It only comes with three and it tends to wobble. In the picture on the box, it appears to be using more than three supports. Second, the hairdryer does not work very well. The gears slip alot and it tends not to turn. If you start the dryer spinning, it will spin for about 15 seconds, but then it will start grinding as the gears stop turning correctly. It looks cute, but not very functional.
Reviews for Zhu Zhu Pets Salon (Toy) The Zhu Zhu Salon is clever: When a Zhu Zhu is seated in the chair and activated, its feet power an old-fashioned hood dryer and light up the large vanity mirror. The hamsters easily scoot up the ramp and into the salon, and you set them in the chair. The salon also has a wash bowl, accessory cart, 3 additional mirrors on standards, and several itsy-bitsy brushes, bottles and other wee accessories. These will topple when a zhu zhu inevitably careens into them. A "bridge" with contacts links the dryer and mirror. Note that the mirror comes with batteries, but takes pricey button types when replacement's needed. Don't leave your hamster in the chair, or the batteries die sooner. We couldn't position ours as an overpass because the angle of the ramp didn't work with our current Zhu city configuration. We'll fuss with it and see if we can get it to go over another track segment. No harder to assemble than other components.

I like the components that send the Zhu Zhus madly scurrying from one area to the next, but for my daughter it's really all about make-believe. From that perspective, the salon is a hit at our house.
